popping exhaust & powercommand 5
hey guys..I have a 2012 flhp 103" recently put on V&H big shot duals and a power command 5...after installation my bike was popping alot on deceleration so I took it up for a service and to have it Dyno"d at the local shop..after paying a butt load of money.got my bike back with a sheet saying I have 74hp which they said was great but my biker is still poppin like crazy..IS THIS NORMAL?? and 74hp for a 103" seems kinda low..(in my Head)?? is the poppin something that I should be concerned with?? just hoping its not my Valves or something..bike just had 25k service done..Would appriciate any feedback or answers...thanks guys!!

Well, the 88" motor was right around 62hp to the rear wheel stock, so your stock 103" at 74hp sounds about right. If you want more out of it, you need to lose the duals and go with a 2 into 1 header (I have the V&H on my heritage and love them). And let it breathe with a hi-flo air filter. But that's if you're looking for performance over aesthetics/sound.
Not smart enough to address the popping, but hope it works out!

I am barely smart enough to realize I am a dimwit.
Are you very happy with the way it is running after the dyno "tune" ?
Did you add the tuner because the new pipes made it pop or just because?
If you have an exhaust leak the dyno guy should have picked up on that...some say that will cause popping on deceleration...I never had the privilege.
If you are happy with overall running you can quite easily add or subtract fuel in the O and 2% throttle setting at rpms well above idle...say 1500. In my case based on advice from PowerCommander tech I added fuel but it could need richer or leaner. Those changes will not have any effect on idle, acceleration or cruise. Trial and error. Quick, clean job but you may need to do a few short rides to figure out what it needs. Again in my case I knew I was headed the right way with adding fuel before I had ridden 500'. I encourage you to get familiar with the software, make sure the dyno guy labeled his map or label it for him, name your map, make notes on your change on the map where the space is provided....do not be afraid...
Hopefully someone will be along shortly that is smart
