Evo Starter Issue

Evo Starter Issue
I have heard several evo owners with the same starter problem. I bought a new battery, changed the starter relay, and bought and installed a solenoid repair kit. Still no changed. I try to start the bike, I can hear the relay click with the dreaded no start.
I bought and installed the solenoid push button to bypass directly to the battery and the bike starts every time. Does this eliminate the starter as a concern? Where should I direct my search? Does this sound like a bad connection? I have tried checking all contact and can not find the fault. Any suggestions?

the wiring between the start button and the starter is where I'd start... Now I say this because when I bought mine, there is a white wire that someone spliced in and it runs to the starter... it's neatly tucked out of sight, but I had to know what it was for and the dealer was clueless about it, so what does my dumb *** do?? I cut it... and then tried to start it... nuffin!!! spliced it back and all is well...
So, in closing, it's become one of those when I get to it I'm gonna fix it right things... but if it ain't broke, don't fix it comes into play for the time being with other projects ongoing...
Hope this is a little help...

Thanks TOMH1962 for your suggestion. I am hearing the relay click when the starter button is pushed so I am getting power to the switch and down to the relay. Is it possible that there may be a resistance load that drops the amperage to the starter and does not allow the plunger to kick? Can anyone let me know the procedure and specs for checking the draw at the battery?

You could try loosening, wiggling, and tightening connections; almost imperceptible corrosion can cause that, too. My Glide was like that before I took it apart for it's current fix up, had to push the button on the solenoid to start it. I'm re-wiring the whole thing, so hope that problem will be gone. I'll still keep the solenoid push button for peace of mind, and if it wasn't so expensive, I'd put a kick starter on it, too.
When you find the fix, please post, might be something the rest of us that follow this thread could add to our knowledge.

I removed and stripped the starter and found out its a Spyke 1.4kw starter motor and I fitted heavier cables to the starter and battery but it still takes a couple of prods on the button to turn it over. Its just the initial start that it struggles but once it starts to turn and turns over no problem. Once its hot it starts no problem.
