Default problems with the bike starting

I have a 2002 Sportster 883 that I have bobbed out. This winner I put on 14 inch ape hangers and ran all the wires through the bars. I used Burly kit on this. This is a personal look that I want. I checked once twice and 3 times to be sure all my wiring is right. Okay here is my question I have. Over the winter I didn't put my battery on a battery saver so the battery is kind of toast. I just wanted to hear the bike run again before I got a new battery so I tried jumping it from a car battery. The bike turned over but no start. I was thinking at first I was getting no spark. I took out one the spark plugs and crank the bike but didn't see no spark jumping the gap I grab the spark plug cranking the bike and it bit me so I know I do have juice going there but I dont have a spark jumping the plug gap. Im going to buy a new battery but I would like to know if there is something else I should check

Make sure the body of the spark plug is grounded to the engine if you're checking for spark. The engine needs fuel and spark to start. You're not getting one (or both).

Default spark

Im getting spark jumping the gap and I have fuel spray in the carb. I tried starting fluid and nothing. I was told jumping over a dead battery can give u a weak spark?. The bike seems to crank kind of slow. Im getting a new battery tomorrow and I will see. If there is anything else I should check it would be appreciated
