Starting problem *XLCR*
Hey,
Ok i got a small problem and hopefully you guys here can help me out a bit..
I have a '77 XLCR with Aftermarket Pipes and dual Kehin Carbs. Now the bike was standing for about 3 months and I recently tried to start it and it started up the first time and the second time i tried to start it up all I got was the starter turning the engine but there was no catch on.
What should I try check out to get this working again? Could it be the spark plugs?

RE: Starting problem *XLCR*
The first thing I would check is that it's getting fuel. Gas can start to go bad in as little as six weeks andgum up your carbs. Make sure thegas is on. Pull the aircleaner off and look into the carb. Twist the throttle and you should be able to see a squirt of fuel. If not, you may need to clean your carbs and/or fuel filter.
If you're getting fuel into the engine and it still won't start, pull one of the plugs, hold it against the head, and try to fire it. You should be able to see it spark. If not, make sure the plugs are clean and check the gap. If all that checks out, you may need to check your wires or coil. Refer to the service manual for instructions on that.
If you still need help, try http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...ortstergarage/. They can answer pretty much anything about our old Ironheads.
Hope this helps.
