4 degree advance

I have Andrews 37's with 4 degree advance gear on my '06 88". I was planning on doing my motor in two phases and that was the cam I wanted. So I installed it advanced then I was going to a year or so later increase cubic inches and compression and pull the the advance and run it straight up.
I never did phase 2 for whatever reason, bike runs great and that was about 4 years ago.

My bike rips, but I don't like how high up the power comes on so I just got the 4 degree sprocket to try and bring the torque on sooner.
I want a little more torque down low so hopefully advancing 4 degrees will do it. I'm told that doing that with the 37s makes them close to what the 26s run like.
I actually have the 26s to put in my brother's bike along with doing a 95 kit so I guess we will see.

I actually have a 95 and am running the 37s straight up.

I put the advance in and have ridden a few times since.
It did bring the cam on sooner (lower in the RPMs) which is what I wanted.
I still am not 100% happy with this cam though.
I want my power even lower.
I just did a 95" and Andrews 26 in my brother's '06 and it is a perfect setup IMO.
Good, useable power but smooth...a little surprising as it picks up speed faster than you realize and then you are braking hard for a turn!
I could live with the power of my 37s but I am getting lots of ticking out of the top end. Seems more like the front cylinder than rear.
I have gone so far as replacing my adjustable pushrods back to stock ones, honing out the pushrod tubes, removing webbing from rocker box cover and hogging out the lowers, using countersunk bolts to center rocker boxes and pulling support plate towards pipe side.
I even pulled the rocker arm plates and swapped the whole assemblies to the opposite head they were on and still have noise!!
I am now thinking it's in the valves. Sounds louder as it warms up and usually when you left off the throttle a bit while cruising.
I have drained out my Mobile 1 20/50 synthetic for dyno 20/50 and half a bottle of Lucas...and it still makes noise.
I don't know if it's the mechanic in me that makes me focus on this so much or what. My brother's motor makes no noise with the 26s.
Makes me want to throw the stock cams in and see if the noise goes away...but I am getting tired of this and just want to ride. Not to mention that my wife is getting upset that I am tearing the bike apart all the time!
