Default Quite confused here

When running the wires inside my new handlebars the metal pin broke out from the connector on the right side controls. 2 wire plug only using only one wire it's a grey/white wire on my 2013 fat bob. according to the manual it's for the ignition kill switch which makes sense. I'm waiting for the new pins to come in so I can put the connector back on. but for squibs and giggles i flipped the switch and the fuel pump kicks on and primes and the bike will crank. This doesn't seem right, without the switch in a circuit shouldn't it not run or crank at all? Just wondering if there was a good reason for this or If i was just crazy

The two pin plug only uses 1 wire. All your hand control functions are running on the other four pin connector. The kill switch functions with a single wire though.

That much I understand. But it still functions perfectly normal but I've got the connector in my tool box while waiting on the new pins to come in.

Oh I see the problem now. Running without this connector is probably not safe because your kill switch likely will not work as intended.

I`m a little confused about this also...I looked at a wiring diagram, and can only see the one wire going to the kill switch.

My question is; how does a switch work with only one wire connected to it? Is the switch body grounded to the handlebar?

It must be referenced to the ground wire on the four pin connector.
