Security HELP!!!!
My '02 Ultra has gone nuts. I just bought a new '07 Ultra and was showing my '02 off to a prospective buyer this weekend when the bike refused to start. Somehow, I have tripped the security system. The security lamp flashes every few seconds, and there is a small whirring sound in the engine. The bike will start for1 to2 seconds and then die. I'm pretty sure the EFI has been shut down. I have tried inputting the security code. I have tried the key fob. I have tried going through the reconfiguration sequence. I can get the security light to stop flashing in the "on" position, but then if I try to start the bike, or if I just turn the switch to off, the security lamp comes right back on. [:@][:@]

RE: Security HELP!!!!
Other than to tell you to check thefuse, if it has one,if it's blown it could think someone's trying to steal it. if the ignition is off and you hit the fob button twice and the lights blink the system should be good to go. I have a hard enough time arming and disarming the system on my bike, I just don't use it that often.

RE: Security HELP!!!!
Since it starts and then dies, I don't think the problem is in the security system. That doesn't even let you try to start the engine. When it stops, liten close to see if the fuel pump is still running. I'm pretty sure that there is a safety mode that will shut off the pump in maybe 5 seconds if there is no oil pressure detected. A pinched/worn wire or clogged sensor could be your problem.
Also, check that the battery cables are clean and tight at both ends. A loose cable, especially the far end of the ground, can cause this kind of problem.

RE: Security HELP!!!!
Thanks Oldtimer,
I just got back from a week in Jamaica playing with momma on the beach. Time to get back to fixing my old toy. I thought it might be something other than the security system, however, that darn security light keeps blinking AND you can hear a whirring in the engine every few seconds. It will keep doing the dask security light blinking and the whirring until it runs the battery completely dead. The bike had been running great. I just went out to start it one day and it was dead. All the battery terminals look clean and tight, and I always run nothing but premium in the bike. Plenty of fresh oil as well. Any idea where to look for a oil sensor wire on my "02 Ultra???
I fear this may be one for the dealer. I need to get this fixed so I can sell it. Momma don't like me having 3 bikes (2 ultras and an Ironhorse). Great woman, but there are limits!!!

RE: Security HELP!!!!
That sounds just what my Road King is doing. I think my problem is a sensor or a relay that is heating up. I need to take my bike to have the codes read to see what is latched in the computer. If you are going to take it some where to have checked don't disconnect the battery you will clear the codes that are in the computer. I don't know if I helped or just made you more confused like me. I hate electical problems.

99 RK Classic,
Thanks for the input. I have a friend that is a harley mechanic. I think I may have to take it to him to fix on the side. Mine never acted up at all while I was riding it. It just drained the battery after I parked it, and then started the security key flashing when I recharged it.
