Do you have the ability to do a compression check both hot and cold?

Did you ever figure out what was causing it? I have a 2010 Street Glide and mine does the exact same thing.

never heard back from him but going back and reading this again, it tends to make me think it's timing related mainly because of the "heat" factor.

no mention of cams in this bike either. wonder if it is a cam other than stock

what exactly is your build?
is it 100% stock?
cams?
air cleaner?
exhaust?

The motor is stock other than I upgraded to a Screaming Eagle compensator because that's what I was told originally would fix it. I do have true dual exhaust, screaming eagle air cleaner, and a screaming eagle race tuner. The compensator seemed like it fixed it for most of last year, but it has been doing a lot this year. I'm thinking of maybe throwing a set of fresh spark plugs in it to make sure is burning the fuel on startup and not detonating it because of heat and pressure.

Just broke down and installed se compensator steers like a dream now

Rod, I have an 07 SG with Factory Stage II 103 and have been dealing with the same problems. How is the SE compensator working out for you??
