Have a question for you folks in HD land. Here is the backround information before the question. I recently bought an 06 fat boy EFI. My first EFI bike. The bike is an 88 motor, it has V&H Big shots, Big Sucker AC, and a fuel pak. The fuel pak was set to standard and not stage 1, Bike ran like crap, sucked gas like a vacuum, and seemed to be running to rich. Talked to the guy I bought it from and he said he guessed it had a stage 1 HD download due to the SE slip ons from the original owner. But he had just punched in the factory standard setting on the fuel pak. He thought it ran ok so did not monkey with it any further. I thought it could run a lot smoother and be more responsive, So last night I put the stage 1 settings in for the fuel pak and holy cow !!! What a difference. Runs like a scalded dog compared to before.

My question is this, how can I tell if the bike has the stage one download without taking it to a dealer?
Have a long ride planned and do not want to fry the motor by being to lean on the way.
Any Ideas?

 

This must be a test ... It isn't an EVO Motor unless someone did some major modifications.

 

Nope no test. 06 fat boy manual says 88, is that correct? I was multi tasking and typed EVO sorry. My apologies
