I have never worked with Deutsch connectors before. I ordered everything I needed to make two 6 way connectors. The one company that supplied almost everything was out of sockets. I found another company and ordered the 12 sockets. When I insert the pin in the socket there is no resistance, the pin just slides in. Have I ordered the wrong size sockets? These are for DT6 connectors

Are you sure you're not crimping the sockets on wire upside down? There's a point on the socket/pin that catches inside the connector/harness.

 

No I am not doing that. I guess I am not explaining correctly. I have one wire crimped to socket and one to pin. When I insert the pin in the socket that is where I have a problem, because I don.t know if pin is too loose in the socket.

Those connector pins are directional. Rotate the wire with the connector 90 degrees and try it again each time position. Hopefully it will catch like its supposed to.
