2001 FLHT... second time the stator has burned out and has had to be replaced.
Is it possible that the voltage regulator is bad, and back-feeding to the stator and burning it out?

Pre 2006 stators are old design. I lost THREE on my 2000 RG by 52,000 miles. So I finally installed a 3 Phase system ( what the newer Harleys run now,) from CompuFire and that was 4 years ago and the bike just hit 130,000 miles last month. Not bad for reliability!

3 Phase charging systems are made by several aftermarket outfits too, ( Cycle Electric is another one.)

 

I put 4 on my 92 flhs in less than 6 months. The stealer said we found the problem this time. They should have found the problem the first time. I paid for each and every one of them
