Default Cruise Control factory on police bike (TBW)

This may have been covered already if so direct me to it. please.
Just wanting to know what is involved in installing factory cruise on a police bike 2008 and up (TBW). I was told that the cop bikes are not wiring ready to plug and play from factory for cruise, that a new wiring harness has to be made up. also is it a pia to convert the switches and controls over to standard.
I have told myself i'm not getting another/next bike unless I can have factory cruise. Famous last words..Thanks for any and all info.

Well it's not plug & play if that is what you are hoping for.
Couple of wires are different and a few are missing altogether.
It can be done but i would not want to pay a dealer to do it but on the other hand if your wiring skills are not up to the task it would be a hard job.
I have the wiring diagrams if you want them for the police bike and the normal bike just let me know.

Thanks scotty3, I not sure what I'm going to do at this point. I have found a nice 09 cop bike, but cruise is almost a must. I'm going to talk with the mechanic/friend to see what he thinks about taking on this task and if I buy the bike I'll get in touch with you for diagrams. By the way have you done one? Cruise? And if so did you change all the switches over also. And if so about how much Is the cost just for parts.. Thanks for your help.

I haven't done one but a quick look at the wiring diagrams (I'm good at reading wiring diagrams and doing wiring) told me what was required.

I would change the switch covers and buy the switches required and wire them in just like if you were replacing a broken switch OR look online and see if you can find a complete set.

Easy enough to add a few wires and wire back to where required.

Other than that it is just a matter of turning cruise on in the ECM as there is no module or cables required as it is all controlled electronically through the ECM
