Default Idle adjustment

Just want to double check something.

I have a SERT installed, but the other day I wanted to have my idle checked. Took it to the dealership and they were able to check it without using the sert dongle. The tech used their computer program to move the idle rpm up and down while the bike was running. Does adjusting the idle up or down do anything to change the latest sert programming without having the sert installed?

No.....

The Digital Tech and the SERT Data Mode are essentially the same thing......

Whatever your idle is set to now, will not affect the tuning of the ECM Map, unless the idle is dropped so low that it can't control it...

FWIW, why didn't you use your SERT and validate it yourself?

Default RE: Idle adjustment

I've only had my map custom tuned for about a week. I wasn't sure whether the idle was high enough and the HD shop was on my way home, so I just stopped in asked them to check it. I also don't have any cables...

As long as the idle is set to 950 - 1050 rpm @ 260 deg (OpTemp), it is okay...

Small investment, those cables......

Spend the money, but READ THE MANUAL 3 Times, before you get into it and start recording or even viewing Data.....

You will be able to tell how close the Tuner got to your final tune, by observing the o2 integrators and the NEW VE (if you have an 07) and comparing it to the CURRENT VE....

As well as viewing your Sensors/Actuators and how they are responding to their respective signals.....

Default RE: Idle adjustment

It was operating properly at 260. It was cold in the morning and it seemed off to me at the time, but everything is working properly - must have been my imagination.

At some point I may mess around with looking at the recording feature. For now I think I am going to just ride it and enjoy it. Especially after all the trouble I had with the power commander.

Thanks for all the info.
