rear cylinder misfire
long time reader first time poster. sorry if this is in the wrong section but here it goes.
bike info: 98 road king, 100" aftermarket evo and trans. stock everything else. 140k on bike 10k on motor.
problem: last week when riding it developed an erratic idle and seemed to be missing on the rear cylinder. so I take it home and pull the front cylinder plug wire off to see if it will crank. no it didn't. so I decide for the $20 to throw on some plugs and wires to see if this was the problem. no good either. So I moved on to the coil. I reversed the plug wires at the coil to see if this would make the rear cylinder run or not. this resulted in a huge backfire causing my neighbors to all stand in their drive way to look and see what was going on (gee that was fun). switched them back and the bike runs.
don't know what the solution is at this point but I do know that im at a loss for solutions. any help would be great. thanks in advance.
