Replace stator…how difficult?
05 ultra had check engine and battery light come on. Coasted home on minimal battery power. Looks like a bad stator. How difficult to replAce? I have the manual but it sometimes goes into far more detail than needed. I am mildly mechanically inclined. Is this a diy change?
Thanks

not hard to do, if you have the right tools. you will need a 1 1/2" socket for the compensating sprocket nut. An air impact makes it easier to remove. you will also need a torque wrench that can go to 80ft/lbs. if this is your first time in the primary, start early, take your time and plan on several hours. if you do not have a primary locking tool, you can have someone hold the rear brake while you are removing and installing the the clutch nut and primary sprocket nut.
** the clutch nut has reverse threads**
