Default Slip Ons

I haver a question that has probably been asked over and over. But here it goes again.
I am considering changing my slip on mufflers for my FLHTI to some aftermarket. Mainly for better sound than the stock HDs.
I haven't decided on which brand yet. The question is what is probably the best choice and for slip-ons and is it really necessary to get PCIII for remapping?

You might check this thread. Lots of good info on what folks are running on their bikes.
