2003 Ultra Classic- Major Electrical!
On a two hour ride away from home my bike totally shut down. I turned on my right turn signal, the bike shut down and I coasted into a parking lot. After quite a long time and removing several parts of the bike I found a 15 amp fuse that had blown. I put in a spare fuse and it popped as soon as I put it in. (dead short). I had it trailered to a shop and they said it was the computer that only H-D could program, so I had it trailered to a dealer. After they had it for close to a week they called and said it was ready. I picked it up to the tune of 1278.61.
The thing I can't understand is that if a cuircit is fused to protect it, how the heck could I need to replace the computer, the security system, all the bulbs, the voltage regulator. Can only one fuse be tied to all of that?
It seems to me that they couldn't find the problem, so they just started replacing parts till they could get it running again.
Any help understanding this would be appreceated. Thanks.
Wow, these H-D things are pricey!
