BAS which is part of the TSM are known to cause that problem on your year bike and worth checking out.

Especially since you have to cycle the ignition to get it to fire.

BAS = Bank Angle Sensor

TSM = Turn Signal Module

The BAS is inside the TSM and usually when it is working correctly will shut the bike off if it tips over past a certain degree.

However if faulty it can shut the bike down just going over a small bump etc.

if you keep a jumper wire with you when it does it,go from hot side of bat to hot side of coil if it starts back up with no problem it would be lose connection somewhere but remember when you do this the only way to kill bike will be to pull wire back off.. but that bypasses all switches and connections but not mods.So if it starts up and runs fine it would be lose connection somewhere..
