I have a pcIII usb on my 03 duece and just installed a set of pipes and stage I air filter kit.Everytime i connect it to my computer it says no power commander and will do nothing .Any help would be greatly appreciated.Oh by the way i am using the 9 volt (fresh)battery and bringing it inside to swap maps.

 

Try another usb port
try another usb cable
check the battery voltage
reinstall the PC software
Beyond that I don't have a clue.

 

Are you using a laptop while the PCIII is installed on the bike or are you only taking it off the bike, using the batt and trying to talk to it "inside"?

 

Power up the PCIII , then connect the USB cable to PCIII.
Making sure the cables are fully seated.

With the battery installed ,the LED display
should run up and down then stop at the
bottom LED.

If thats a go, then it is the cable or PCIII.

 

if the PCiii is on the bike while you are trying to do this... start the bike. on my bike, just turning on the electrical system doesn't seem to do the trick. I have to start the bike, then start the software on the computer.
I have not used the battery option, but I would venture to guess you need to get juice to the unit first, then start the software (just like when on the bike).

just read your post again... not doing it on bike. Anyway, get juice to the PCiii, connect the cable to the PC, you should get some indication that you plugged in a USB device. Then start the software. If that doesn't work, call the guys at Powercommander.

 

i had same problem with my new unit . directions say in trouble shooting make sure connector (usb cable ) is fully seated. this took some considerable force with my unit. (i didn't want to break the dam thing!) but it worked fine after that.

 

I talked to dynojet and they got me fixed up over the phone.It had something to do with my computer and the software i was trying to download. Got my new map downloaded and all is well!

 

I always start the motor, then plug my usb into laptop. I also leave the usb cable installed all the time for easier use, and run it over into my saddle bags.
