Check your PC too and make sure you have a serial port. If not, add a USB-serial converter to the shopping list. My laptop didn't have a serial port, only USB. Had to drag the desktop to the garage to load my cal until the converter arrived in the mail. Although this was an inconvenience, it was far simpler than getting my bike up the stairs to my office.

Dealers will have your SERT cables in stock if you need them today. I suggest Newegg, Tiger Direct, or Ebay for the USB-serial converter if you need one. They are cheapest.

I don't know. I bought mine in November. I was a little miffed when the parts guy told me about it. Here's your SERT. By the way, you need cables too. It was a double wammy for me too. Many laptops these days do not come with a Serial port. Hence, I had to add the cost of a Serial-USB adapter to the list.

When would I need a SERT and not the cables? I suppose if I had 2 EFI bikes. But how many people do? And is the number that large as to warrant separating the parts like that? I can think of logical scenarios where it makes sense from a business standpoint but it still sucks to be the guy on the other side of the parts counter having to shell out the extra dough.

They started elliminating the cables for the new F series sert. The cables are 25.5 at https://www.mandmcycles.com/Default2.htm. They have lots of good prices.
