Default setting static timing on my S&S 124

Just had it installed in my 98 Fatboy but am now home in Tennessee, it has a slight ping on load so I would like to see if they set it at the recommended position but am not really sure of the sequence?
1) remove plugs
2) remove inspection bolt
3) bring mark up to factory position
4) what about the battery...this is why I am confused.

Any help is appreciated. Doc

It should have come with a service manual, my 107 did. Which ignition system do you have? Help us to help you! These are the instructions for IST.

Not an IST ignition..it is the Super Stock Ignition made for the 124 by S&S...just want to know if I disconnect the battery. When you remove the plugs do you simply reinsert them in the boots or leave the wire free? Do you have to do anything else to the plug?

I don't know what you have to do, but you can read the instructions for it here! It is available via S&S's website, which is where I got the links from.

My reading is that if your motor was supplied as ready to install, you will see on page 7 that you shouldn't mess with the timing! I suggest you read them thoroughly then phone your builder, if you are not happy with the way it runs.
