Default electrical gremlin..blinker!

My bike is a 1997 pro one so the wiring isn't quite the same as HD I'm sure. My problem is as follows: the other day my left blinker worked fine but also flashed the head light. The next day it was fine again then shortly after it came on and stayed on. Not flashing, just constantly lit up. I have checked all the wires I can see for bare spots and such but have found nothing. I am thinking maybe the switch or possibly a flasher but I struggle with electrical. I would really appreciate and insight or suggestions! Sorry such a long post.

Did the headlight flash or alternately go dim & bright? And was it in sync with the signal flash; on/bright or off/dim when the blinker was lit?

It flashed in sync with the turn signal off together, on together.

If it was the other way 'round, I'd say it was voltage related. Seems to be crossed wires &/or grounding issues. I know you've been through the wiring, check your grounds, esp. the one to the trees - the bars & controls can't ground properly through the neck bearings, there has to be a wire connecting all the front end parts to the frame for ground. I've seen some really strange stuff because of bad grounding.

I'll check.that out tonight. I had the front signal off the fork tube last nite and noticed it went off as soon as I wasn't contacting the tube with the housing so I suspect my ground is ok but i too understand bad grounding makes weird stuff happen. I will try anything. Hell is even hop on one leg while working on it if you told me it'd work!

Well, I tried running a jumper wire to the triple trees back to the frame and nothing changes at all. Thanks for the idea Dallas, I wish it would worked. Guess I'm just gonna keep looking!
