Default RE: Plug Wires

Got it!
The spark plug is used as an actuator to ignite the
air/fuel mixture, then as a sensor to monitor the combustion process. Once
the spark is over, a DC voltage is applied which biases the spark plug gap.
If ions or free electrons are present in the gap, current will flow in the gap
-- the current is then measured by the system.

The ION sense is very finnicky and even a spark plug change can screw it up. I have seen and built many motors making 130 hp and 150 tq with stock plugs and wires. Plugs and wires are not bolt on HP as many would try to have you think in order to sell them.

Are all the plugs and wires S/E included safe to use from the Harley shop? When i bought my bike it had reg HD splugs in and they were covered in carbon/soot. I replaced them with the S/E tripple platnium plugs and i just checked them when i put the gear drive cams in and they are very clean/white after 3000 miles. I have a set of the S/E plug wires i want to put on yet. Thanks

Sometimes, but not always, even the HD platinum plugs mess it up.
