Hey guys/gals....I have a 1980 Super Glide. I only rode it twice this year....put a new battery in it this summer. Since I've owned the bike whenever I would try to start the bike it would sometimes just click and then other times it would turn over and start. Even after putting in a new battery it did the same thing....although I put the battery in in August and I just tried to start it for the first time this weekend got it going on Saturday but it wouldn't start yesterday.

Could it be something with the starter itself or could the battery need a charge so soon after putting it in....or could it be the connections...or something else.

I would check the voltage on the battery first, and re-charge if necessary.

 

OK....I checked battery....voltage a bit low....recharged it. Tried to start it.....still just get a clicking sound....a bit louder clicking than before but it still won't crank.

Help please??

 

what voltage reading to you get when you check the battery?
