RE: Idle jump to 1200 rpm after mods
It,s a 2000 RG 60 k miles. 95 cc pc 3 tune for 203 cams . I got 510 cams and gears and with in 50 miles the idle jumped to 1200 rpm . started it this morning and it,s fine .the trouble is here Im not inpressed with the tuners in N M . May have to go to phoenis AZ. How can I know if it,s a Delphi bike?

If it's a 2000 RG it probably has the Magnetti Morelli fuel injection system. This was used on touring bikes from around '98 to 2001. That's what's on my "01 Road King Classic. I'm having a similar problem since I installed the PCIIIusb. I tried to idle it down but it keeps going back up to around 1,200 rpm when it's warm. I'm going to read up in the PCIII literature and see if I can figure it out. If not, I'll call my tuner. He's pretty good at answering my questions. If I figure it out, I'll let you know.

RE: Idle jump to 1200 rpm after mods
2000 road glides have a Magnetti Marelli system. Did anyone adjust the idle screw up at all. If they did, that system needs to re-learn the tp voltage at hot idle by pulling the ignition fuse. If no one touched it, what most likely occurred is your mods/fuel/whatever are causing it to run faster at the setting the hot idle stop is on. On a Marelli you can lower the idle with no problems by turning out the idle set screw out once it os hot and on the stop (the screw). Marelli's learn a minimum hot idle tp voltage, that is why you can't raise them w/o pulling the fuses, but you can lower them witn no problems because lowering the idle puts the tp voltage below the learned previous tp voltage.

Will lowering the hot idle do anything to the cold idle? This may sound stupid but when I lowered the hot idle, the cold idle also went down. I used the procedure shown in the "do it yourself" section under fuel injection. It seems to work for a while then the hot idle creeps back up. I'm going to give it another shot without pulling the fuses to see if your suggestion works for me. Thanks for the info.

I haven't had to pull the breather vents off. I remove the air cleaner and there's a small torx screw at the lower right side of the back plate. Turn it counter clockwise to lower the hot idle. To get to the cold idle you have to pull the back plate and breather vents.

Your last post could not be any less clear if you tried...if you are playing with the lever arm that touches the solenoid, you are playing with the cold idle screw. The hot idle screw is in the lower right quadrant. If you turn that screw in the idle should rise, if you turn it out, the idle should lower (when up to temp) If you are at temp and using the screw behind the backplate (the one that rotates with the cables) to adjust the hot idle, then you are playing with the cold idle screw.
