timing trouble
Hello all, I have a 98 fatboy that I had asked questions about it backfiring when trying to start. I got some good advice. I rebuilt the carb and put a new cam in it, checked to see if the timing marks were right and they were. Now it seems I have to have the timing all the way advanced to get it running. It still backfires when I try to start. I have checked the VOES switch and continuity on all the wiring from the module to voes and cam sensor. Would the cam sensor or ignition module be causing the advanced timing issue? Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks
Donnie

A sure enough backfire through the inlet? ---Too lean
Or
A loud report out the exhaust?---Too rich.
I would go from there with your adjustments to the carb, then re-adjust timing to spects.
If you had a kick starter you would already be back to stock timing. Soon as the leg healed.
Did almost broke a jaw once though. Leg gave (better that breaking) and my going up Knee hit my going down Jaw.
My friends though that was quiet amusing as I remember. Almost 40 years ago.
