ReefRaider-Basic answer is yes, the Pro tuner is better. Will you notice the difference? Maybe, maybe not; it depends on how sensitively the various upgraded parts you are using are designed specifically to work together and how much upgrades/mods you have done.
The difference is in the sensitivity or greater tuning width of the WB sensors vs. the NB sensors. It is a fact that the WB sensors flat out exceed the capability of the NB sensors.
Check post #5656 p. 566.
That all said, it boils down to a value/expense ratio. For most who have added AC/exhaust, the basic PV works quite well; it did at least for me then.
Cheers.

azlou66- see post 5481 p. 549 for the answer to your question by dynaulv.

For me, the DL program is working as long as I use the NotePad editing workaround described in the prescription from dynaulv, even with my latest updates. I do have an older PC with an old software edition that I did not update and I don't have to use the NotePad editing workaround on that software. I'm trying to recall the version but don't have it at the tip of my fingers. I know someone asked for the last version that didn't require the workaround... I'll have to look again and report.
Cheers and good luck.

Default LT on 54bit

Delta- did you get this resolved?
The reason I ask is I'm using DL on both a Win7-32 and a Win7-64 bit machine; and it seems to functioning as it did on my older XP versions... not, given your question, I'm wondering why it's working... no complaints mind you; just my experience. Good Luck.

Default Firmware Version LT Compatible

Hey Delta- check post 5644/p.565 for my experience with FW version 1180.
I have that on an old PC and have not upgraded it--LT works just fine on it.
On my newer PC with newer FW, I have to use the LT workaround posted by dynaulv on p.549 post 5481. Check it out after you get LT to load on your new PC...
Also posts 5478/5479 are the questions dynaulv was answering in his work around for DL/LT.
Use a NotePad for editing.
I've found the NotePad++ editing program to work quite nicely for me.

Good Luck.

JetD...
I finally got the Log Tuner to install, guess it found the missing file it needed to complete. Got my crashed computer up and running somewhat, had to load a backup from Sept 2012. I have the WinPV software file 1.0.68.1180 dated 9/9/12. (The last version that worked with LT spark tables.)

So it sounds to me that the WinPV software version and not the firmware is causing the problem with not being able to use LT for the spark tables. I think this version will work with the newest firmware; but, I'll have to wait for spring time in New Hampshire to try it out.

Here's a link to the 1180 software if you want to experiment with it on your newer PC http://1drv.ms/1l4WNt1

Hi
When I open my tune in winpv there's a section about fuel injector fuel rate. Does it make a differance whats there or is it just there for info.
Thanks

Default Knock on the rear only

Any ideas what would be causing knock events only on the rear cylinder?

I have run my logs through log tuner several times due to some pinging I started hearing recently (that wasn't there before). Everytime LT calculates the new pvv, only the rear is showing knock events. Nothing up front.

I've also had a couple of back fires when letting off the throttle suddenly at higher rpms, which didn't used to happen.

Are you referring to the Injector Constant? Typically a 1.0 value.
Or the injector size? That should match the size injector you are using

Delta- First, good on ya for getting the PC loaded and operating. You can test it on the PC of course if you have some old log files from some previous tuning just to test to make certain it's working.... don't have to wait for spring in the north woods for that dry run... in my testing it has been the SW regardless of the FW; at least an FW version ago.

That is, I have the old machine at the office and I'll tune on the commute in and put the file in the 1180 SW and LT works fine; but commuting home to the new PC/SW I have to use the workaround cited above to use the DL for spark tuning adjustments.

Second, thanks for the link.
Question: when I dl the file, it is numbered 1.0.68; of course that's the 'installer number'. But does that install SW version "1180"?

Just curious. And again, thanks.
