Power Vision Information Thread
#8361
Another good use for a power vision. 3 days of riding in a down pour and extremely high wind. Lost all dash functions except infor center radio. No gauges no tach or speedo. Had my Power visioning in the bag. I have not used it to tune the 2016 yet.
Plugged it in set one of the gauge functions to speedo and road home. It also allowed me to pulled the codes. Solved a couple trouble shooting issue right away. Power vision proved right away there were no ECM issues and that it likely was just a minor water issue.
Stuck it in the bike room with dehumidifiers running all back to normal in an hour . Now to find out where it got wet.

here's a shot of my F/R spark tables and the lambda table so it's easier to see vs opening the tune file. as you can see I've worked the cruise area timing down incrementally over several tunes- nothing negative noticed, just some lower ET's and bit peppier light roll on in cruise area. but how far down is too far? I say 28 is the limit but that is only based on Big-Twin engine timing in general.
I know my lambda table is rich and I'm working my way leaner on it now that I have the timing dialed in how I like it. We have crap e10 gas here.

Hey everyone,
I have been cruising through this thread for a while now, looking at some of your logs and maps and such and thought I would ask fa quick question and see if I can get some feedback from you guys.
I have been playing around with my tune a little bit. I got a base map from fuelmoto or dynojet (can't remember which one) and ended up having more knock than I thought I should as well as a few other little things that needed working out. I was able to fix a low idle issue as well as essentially delete all knock off of the rear cylinder.
I am fairly new to bike tuning, and am trying to decide if pulling timing or adding timing creates more power. The tune I have now has had some timing added to it and it seems to be about the same knock wise as it was earilier. I am wanting to tune higher rpm and map kpa for power and keep my lower cruising rpm/map about where I have it set since there is not really knock at cruising speed. When I am roughly at 70-100% throttle position is when I see the knock and feel like its quite under powered.
lastly, I have been having a hard time viewing datalogs when I try to upload them onto my computer. I got a new laptop and installed winpv but when I try to upload a datalog it will not pull up. I don't know why. if anyone has a quick help guide on how to view datalogs that would be great to know as well. I spoke with bill at dynojet as he sent me a base map for some cams I am doing, and when I asked him about the datalog viewing he said he is in the process of writing a detailed tutorial or step by step to uploading datalogs. I just would like to be able to view them asap and would prefer not waiting for that to be put onto dynojets website.
thanks for keeping this thread going with great info.

If your bike is 2007-newer then a lot of that slowness you are feeling is due to the too tall belt pulleys (32 on the transmission and 66 on the wheel). adding cams will of course help since you are adding more raw power, but you won;t entirely get rid of the slog until you shorten up that final ratio up about 10%. or throw a lot more power at it like a 107 kit. doing the pulley swaps on my bike made a huge difference, no exaggeration.
as for data logging and timing, learning to use MLV is your best bet. using 'mytune' is second best bet- it actually does a decent job of showing where to trim timing. but you can trim too much and bike will feel slow. any performance tuned HD is going to ping a little bit in the logs- I don't worry about knock events the log 2.5 or under and with a knock count less than 2. most of the time knock events will be erroneous - again I only worry about it if I see the same exact events in every ride log- for example hitting high MAP between 3500-4500 rpm. If I keep seeing the exact same knock and counts in most every ride log then I will address it. I don't immediately chase it down unless I see it recur a few times in a few ride logs. Also too it is good to ride and tune specific areas at a time- go out and tune the off-idle area, and then roll-on from cruise portion, then lastly the WOT portion. each time you go out to log for tuning, ride focus on just that one area of and do short 10-20 min logs.

You can go straight to Auto Tune, when you enter AT mode the adaptive values are reset either way.

Been so long since I ran auto tune I have forgotten how to use it. At the end of your tuning run do you stop the bike from running with the "run" switch and then exit and export? The youtube video from Dynojet leaves this step out and I dont remember what to do. First time I used it I lost everything. Thanks.
