As some of you know... it is Mastertune by TTS for me! But... I am really quite impressed with all the 'going ons' here! I think it is always really great when developers and 'top users' get together!
I have seen this, and it is still present today with TTS on another site. I'm thinking you guys have a very very nice product.
Why might you ask? I feel that the 'competition' is actually good for BOTH camps and simply GREAT for the consumer. Just think back to 2008 and remember what we had to work with... SERT, TMax, and PC3s. Wow... what an improvement for DIYers!!!!!

Hey, thanks for the reply. Sorry to be so thick on this....but I still have a couple questions...
OK...by learned values, you mean the values stored in the adaptive table, that are applied during startup, right? If so, why wouldn't you want to reset these prior to logging? It seems to me that if the ECM applies 'adjustments' to the tune, it's going to change what is measured by the O2 sensors, and so adjustments calculated by logtuner are going to be off as a result. Sure, they'd be right for the tune plus the learned adjustments together, but they would be off if the trims were reset later....
Second question...the guide for the log tuner suggests turning off the adaptive control... Again, assuming that the adaptive control is the where the data in the trims comes from, I guess that means that while my tune has this parameter turned off, this is all a moot point, right?
Finally, when it comes time to reset these trims, when do you do it? If they are applied at startup, then I assume it's a waste of time to do this unless the engine is off, right?

In this manner... we get the best VEs and the trims stay small and adjust for various fuels like they are supposed to. The larger the trims, the harder for the ECM to adjust quickly to various fuel types. The larger the trims... the further off our VEs are.

Considering the amount of filtering and other operations/corrections going on within the system the rounding of values WinPv performs when you retrieve a calibration from the ECM is a non issue as these delta's are extremely miniscule and immeasureable.
As noted earlier to expose all of the latest tuning tables and features you will do the following 1) open the update client and check for new software and firmware, update if necessary 2) On the PV device go to the tune manager and select Load Copy and select your current tune 3) Open WinPv and will now have your current tune with all of the latest tables. We are exposing more and more stuff that is in there, and sometime in the future there will likely be an "update tune" or similar feature on the device which will update the tune with one prompt

Yes, the Trims are adaptive values. Yes, they are applied at start up and while running. When do you reset them? Anytime you wish... but it is only really necessary (and it's not even THAT necessary) when you change the VE tables. ie. you create a new map with new VE table values and push it to the ECM. BTW: The PV will now prompt you with this info. Also, when you reset the Trims you are instructing the ECM to "forget" what it has learned... so it is no longer applying that specific set of values... Instead it learns them all over again.
The Log Tuner operates by USING the adaptive values. Basically, there is one setting in the VE table and the ECM says that based on current conditions it prefers an adjusted value. Thus the "New VE". This is then calculated by the log tuner. So no, the trims don't throw it off. You CAN reset trims for each logging run, but I find more often than not it makes no difference as the changes are minuscule. The best practice is to reset trims when you update the VE tables on the ECM map.
I believe the adaptive control is actually APPLYING the new VE changes in real time. I think they are turning that off for the purpose of tuning. I never did and had no troubles. I could be wrong on this point but that is my understanding. As far as I'm aware the ECM will constantly learn based on air intake, engine temp, engine speed, and O2 sensors. I don't believe that you disable this function by turning off Adaptive control... I think all you are doing is preventing it from applying the changes in real time.... You should still see the preferred VEs and Spark Adv in the logs which will be applied during auto tuning. This may or may not cut down on the number of tuning runs.

Also, I have completed my mapping process with what I now believe are the most efficient spark advance and VE settings. I have all of my performance and virtually no ping. Though she does ping a little after sitting in traffic and hitting high temps when I go to get moving... but it isn't much at all and I believe that to be expected.
