if it makes you feel better, then think about it this way. they are charging you a 500 dollar license fee per bike.
and those units that they use on cars that are able to flash several vehicles, i believe they cost a lot more.
you buy the unit you should be able to use it as much as you want to... you aren't buying the unit, you are buying the right to use the unit on one bike. just like software, you don't own it, you own the right to use it according to the companies licensing agreement.
like qtracer said, if you don't like the way the company does business, don't buy it. we won't mind.
so you just have yourself a nice day

We go through this in the photography business. Buy a new camera realizing it will be superseded by a new model in a few months. If you wait for the new model you'll never get a new camera. In the case of PV I think it'll be DJ's flagship tuner for a while. Remember that the PCV was introduced two years ago, with AT coming out only a few weeks later, and that was their latest offering. In the ensuing months I think we'll see PV mature with apps and features added that'll make it even more versatile. I'm looking forward to working with it.

I have done the a/c and slip ons but have a set of 255's to put in soon.
As it happens, you and I have the same bike, live in similar climates, and seem to have similar riding styles.
I'm less interested in auto tune than I am in a tuner in general. Switching on the fly is an added bonus.
I'm just a guy looking for a good deal from a guy with a good reputation.
I'm not against Jamie making a buck, and have priced a new unit from him already. I'd be all over a new PV but I barely can cover a new PCV on my budget.
I know I have to do something, I'm just exploring all the options.

And just like the photography business the same guys/girls always end up taking the best photos no matter what camera they are holding. Talent wins out everytime. The best tuners will still build the best tunes no matter what media they utilize and no backyard wrench will approach what the best guys can do. But that doesn't mean the amateur can't have fun learning and doing a tune job themselves.
