Default Stumble at Same RPM Every Gear

Hello All,

Just realized I posted in the wrong section, so moving over to the PV section.

Got a chance to do my first ride after installing cams. My set-up is 2011 RKC103 w/ Power Vision, Jackpot 2-1-2 and mufflers, AC, and SE 204. Map supplied by Jamie at FM, and I put on a VPC 92t to handle any clutch slippage.

Scoot runs very strong, no decel popping at all (thank you Jamie) but....

at about 3500 rpm, the bike has a noticable hesitation/stumble. Doesn't matter which gear. I didn't have my PV attached, but here is a RPM table for reference:

MPH Calculator
RPM 1 2 3 4 5 6
1000 7.5 10.9 15.2 19.6 23.9 27.8
1200 9.0 13.0 18.3 23.5 28.7 33.3
1400 10.5 15.2 21.3 27.4 33.5 38.9
1600 11.9 17.4 24.4 31.3 38.2 44.5
1800 13.4 19.5 27.4 35.3 43.0 50.0
2000 14.9 21.7 30.4 39.2 47.8 55.6
2200 16.4 23.9 33.5 43.1 52.6 61.1
2400 17.9 26.1 36.5 47.0 57.3 66.7
2600 19.4 28.2 39.6 50.9 62.1 72.2
2800 20.9 30.4 42.6 54.8 66.9 77.8
3000 22.4 32.6 45.7 58.8 71.7 83.4
3200 23.9 34.8 48.7 62.7 76.5 88.9
3400 25.4 36.9 51.7 66.6 81.2 94.5
3600 26.9 39.1 54.8 70.5 86.0 100.0
3800 28.4 41.3 57.8 74.4 90.8 105.6
4000 29.9 43.4 60.9 78.3 95.6 111.1
4200 31.4 45.6 63.9 82.3 100.4 116.7
4400 32.9 47.8 67.0 86.2 105.1 122.2
4600 34.3 50.0 70.0 90.1 109.9 127.8
4800 35.8 52.1 73.1 94.0 114.7 133.4
5000 37.3 54.3 76.1 97.9 119.5 138.9
5200 38.8 56.5 79.1 101.8 124.2 144.5
5400 40.3 58.6 82.2 105.8 129.0 150.0
5600 41.8 60.8 85.2 109.7 133.8 155.6
5800 43.3 63.0 88.3 113.6 138.6 161.1
6000 44.8 65.2 91.3 117.5 143.4 166.7
6200 46.3 67.3 94.4 121.4 148.1 172.3

In 1st gear, it happens at about 27-28 mph, for example, but knowing that my speedo is off about 1-2 mph, puts me right at 3500 rpm. 2nd gear about 39-40 mph, and so on. I could get it to do this consistently and up to about 4th gear. Didn't test 5th or 6th gear. Once the bike revs past 3500, it is very strong without hesitation once again. At first I thought it was just bad/old gas (even though I use Stabil), but it is so consistent in every gear this just can't be the case. I just looked at the map FM provided and noticed a couple of things. First EITMS is turned off. Shouldn't I turn that back on? Second, and maybe just coincedence, but I noticed Power Enrichment RPM is set to come on at 3500. Last, I noticed that in my rear VE table, there is a dip from 89 to about 80 at 3500 RPM and 50 MAP, then at 60 MAP, jumps back up.

My next step is to connect the PV to verify RPM/MAP, TP etc. I don't want to do any tuning runs until I get the old gas out of the tank, but in the meantime, I am stumped and would appreciate any and all suggestions/comments. Thanks.

Most likely need some tuning in that range. I like to setup my data channels for O2 Integrator and then monitor that in the problematic area. It should stay close to 100%, but vary up and down by a few points - within 5% as the target. That is an easy way to see if you have a problem with VE's that needs attention. EITMS off would not contribute to this, but PE coming on at 3500 seems early. I think it's normally around 4300-4500.

After playing with this tuner all day I have to say that I like it except for 2 things;

Taking it off the bike to bring it into the computer room is a pain. I really wish there was an easy on/off for the mount.

I can't get Logtuner to open on my computer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. Everytime I try to open it, I get a message saying that it has to close and asking me if I want to send an error report to Microsoft.

Crap! It took an hour this morning to figure out how to create logs. Now I can't use them.

Poorly.

After riding all day I'm not 100% sure that what I call decel popping is popping at all. I'm begining the think most of it is just my exhaust (Big Shot Staggards).

I rode behind a guy once who had problems with decel popping and I remember hearing it as a "CRACK>>CRACK" . Most of mine is Blup-blup.

My other hint is that it isn't changing based on how much fuel I give it. Every now and then I'll hear an undeniable pop...but mostly it's that gurgle.

Lmao...if that makes any sense!

I think I'll check out my intake (intake and pipes are new) to make sure there isn't a leak tomorrow.

Alright guys i have a question: I have run over 20 data logging sessions on all types of roads and ridding conditions. My VE tables will change by a few numbers up or down each time data log. I am still experiencing some decel popping ( i have the fuel moto pro touring pipes). These pipes may always have a little popping because it's always been there. Also, my bike just doesnt seem to have the power it should, kinda like its being held back or maybe in a strong head wind but no wind. My question is, should i just contact fuelmoto and get a new map to start over with that is setup differently? I am learing the power vision but i am very ignorant when it comes to changing values on my own. I just data log, calculate tune and apply. Thanks very much for the help!

I use a tool called "ccleaner" to cleanup the windows registry. Give it a try. you can find it with google.

Thumbs up

1) What is the difference between VE Front and VE New Front? Same goes for VE Rear and VE New Rear?

I have done 5 tuning runs so far and I have been logging VE New Front and VE New Rear. I used the logging list off the Log Tuner word document created by JustDennis. Am I logging the correct VE signals or should I be logging all 4 at the same time???

2) When do I call it quits on the tuning? I think the VE's are squared away and I have even gotten rid of 95% of the decel popping by adding fuel in the A/F table under 20kpa range. I think some of you said that the VE's should not change more than 1% between runs so is this percentage based on the difference between the old/new values after Log Tuner is run? Sorry if that sounded confusing.

Also, thanks to iClick for answering my earlier questions.

Thanks. I think my next step is to raise pe rpm to 4500 and pe rpm off to 4300 and go for a ride to see if this is part of the problem. Should eitms be on or off. Any other opinions welcome. Tedman

.
VE X is what the calibration is calling for and VE New X is what it's adjusting to based on input from the O2 sensor. When they are within 5% of each other, you're good.
