I did some exploring in the menus but don't see anything that allows saving. Will it allow me to save the stock tune after I begin to load the custom tune?
In the very early versions of the firmware you had to do the copy yourself but now the PV does it for you when you first marry to PV to the bike. You can load the current tune to one of the slots and then save it to your PC if you would like to have it for comparison purposes.

After reading all 162 pages of this thread and the positive feedback on the PV I decided to take the plunge. Called Fuel Moto and ordered the Power Vision and FM Stage 1 AC, got them installed Saturday. Yesterday went on an 80 mile ride and I have to say I could feel more noticeable power, no popping or pinging. Fuel Moto said they had a good map for my setup and they were right, great customer service here…

Even though the bike runs well I want learn more about how these engines run and the PV capabilities, so I thought I would setup the PV to do some tuning runs. I went to Fuel Moto’s Tuning Tips website and it looked straight forward. Steps 1 & 2 were no problem; however step 3 is where I’m confused. When I go to Datalog / Signals I can see a list of channels but it’s not clear to me how to “Configure your Power Vision to datalog the following channels.” Do you select the channel then select add, or is it going to log all of those channels automatically? Could this sequence have changed in newer FW updates?

Thanks in advance…

All the signals should be listed by default. You can either delete all the signals, then add only the ones you need, or try to only delete the ones you don't need from the original list.
There might not be any harm in logging extra or un-needed signals, but I prefer to log only the signals required by the Log-Tuner.

Steevo,
Thanks for the reply, that clears things up. I'm going to try to go some tuning runs this week-end.... Rodger

You can log extra data fields and it doesn't impact the tuning at all. It just makes the data files bigger but sometimes the extra data comes in handy when you are evaluating the logs. As long as you have the required fields logged, the extra ones are fine.

Im sure this has been covered but i am on my cell phone and cant navigate through the all the info that easily. I just did my first data logging runs, i followed fuelmotos instructions off their site and when i cranked the bike and selected start tune there is no data. It just says NONE but when i finished riding and selected end tune there was a few MB worth of data. I connected the PV to my computer and again followed FM instructions on importing. There is no data everything is 0 and it says NONE on each side of the graph. Im kinda stumped on this. I also chose lambda values for my 2012 street glide but when i imported a pop up window came up saying only afr values are supported...( something like that). I greatly appreciate the help and info!!!

I'm not sure why you are are having difficulties as I'm no expert, but I just did my first tune run following FM instructions and it worked great. Go back and start over and see if you may have skipped a step. I was a little intimidated at first, but after doing my first tuning run it is not that difficult. I hope someone will jump in and give you a hand.

After thinking about it make sure you have your calibration setup for closed loop for the area you are tuning. AFR (lambda) should be .98-1.02 if you are are using the NB sensors. My understanding is you will not be able to tune outside the closed loop area with NB sensors. Just a thought...

Im gonna go back and read over this thread at work tomorrow and try it again after work. When u begin logging the power vision does show something right? All i have is a line moving from right to left like a EKG machine. the pop up window says the pe only recognises ve and afr tables.

Make sure you go to Datalog/Assign Signals and select the channels mentioned on FM instructions. I was a little confused with this as you can see from my post.

I'm not sure what the PV was doing when I pressed "start log", I had it in the saddle bag while I was doing the tuning run. Sorry, I know this is not much help.

When you hit "Start Log", you should see (in small, scrolling letters right next to the button), the filename that is being created, something like log0001.csv, then the filesize, like 2.8MB, then the free space on your PV, like 98% free. It will constantly alternate between these three things as long as you are logging.
But this "Pop-up" window you speak of, does it occur when you hit "start log" on the PV, or is this something happening when it's hooked to your computer? These clues are important, and so is the exact wording of these pop-ups. If it happens again, take a picture of it. Might be worth a thousand words...
