2010 Nightster wiring help
I am in the process of tucking my wiring so I don't have to lift the tank, and had all the connecters removed and hard-wired instead, except the connector 20a to 20b (connecting speedometer and indicators to main body harness). I tested, and everything worked. I then cut out 20a to 20b, and wired those together. I now have no speedometer, computer display, or turn signals. I have triple checked all connections, and they are correct and solid, and no fuses are blown that I can find. There is a brown wire coming from the speedometer that is not shown on the wiring diagram, and goes to a dummy wire on the plug. I simply taped this one off. What did I do wrong? What is this random brown wire? Is that the problem here? What should I have done with it instead? I used to work at a custom shop doing wiring, but that was 15 years ago, and haven't done any since. Point being that, while not completely clueless, I am rusty. Any help and/or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Brake lights work.
The odometer reset button does not light up the speedo.
