Default Oil Temperature Gauge

I just installed the Hd oil temp gauge, and the directions don't say anything about putting dielectric grease on the snap in electrical plug at the oil pan oil sending unit. Should I put some on, or does it get too hot and melt off. Any suggestions/

Shouldn't need it; I didn't use any, works fine.
Gotta figure it gets pretty warm, my oil temp read 230 a few times last year.
I use Syn-3 in the motor, sposed to be good to 280 degrees.
