I'm considering the race tuner for my SGS that is supposed to deliver in a couple weeks. The dealership says it will not void the warranty on my bike, but the HD literature about the race tuner suggests it will. What has been everyone's experience with these tuners and warranties?

any tuner or add on fueler has the potential to be blamed for an issue. as soon as you change from stock the change in itself may be blamed. I have no problem and have not heard of any instance where warranty was voided for just having it.

Thanks for your input. It sounds like I should stick to the dealer who is recommending this setup for any potential warranty issues. They are recommending a Fullsac header with no cats, SE breather ad V&H slipons. they tell me this won't harm my warranty.

Best case scenario is that nothing goes wrong!!

Any warranty related issues are only as good as the dealer you take your bike to. If the dealer recommends, sells and installs any product on your bike then they are supposed to stand behind that product. Different dealers performance on the same factory warranty and extended warranty differs. Extended warranty issues are generally corroborated by an outside auditor and comes into the dealership to approve or counter ESP issues generally over a certain value. You get warranty guidelines in written form when you buy the bike or separate guidelines when you buy an ESP contract. Consider them guidelines and not written in stone or for all circumstances.

I had a lifter go and took out the cam support plate and oil pump. I had the SE Pro "installed" (i.e. flashed map and married vci to bike) from the same dealer almost 4 yrs ago. I added true duals, intake and mufflers myself and the extended warranty covered the claim, close to $800. Not even a question, they just said it will be fixed and never mentioned it being flagged as "race tuned".

Default K&N Filter

Hey guys, I got my new K&N oval shaped pod AC on today and did a smart tune run to see what would happen! The VEs did what I thought was very odd. I the low rpm/low tp cells the numbers increased by .5 to 3.5%, mid range was generally 2-3% increase, the odd part is they DEcreased by as much as 7-8% in the higher rpm/80%-WOT cells. So to me that says the new AC flows better down low but worse up high, is that even possible? So if my VEs are coming down, should I go back into the constants and bring the CI back down closer to what it actually is? or just leave it be and just be happy that my bike is running a sh*tload better than it was a few months ago? Im thinking I'll just do a few more data runs and that might be it! One last thing, I think it was UltraNutz said a while back once the VEs are within 5% move on! If I'm recording 0 knock events and don't need to mess with timing, What am I moving on to??? Thanks, Matt.

you have a 95ci. previously you increased the ci (to?) as the VE was approaching 125. you also went to 780 on clb. you changed the AC.
what I am getting at is that you are doing multiple things where one may affect another.
I will suggest that you save the current map and put the base map back in there, do 2-3 smartune enabled datalogs, update the VE and then compare the VE to your map you have been working with up until now.
Before any other changes I am saying do smartunes to tweak the VE. If again you approach 125, let us know.
Once the VE is changing within 5%, then change richer if you want, timing etc
