My bad... I haven't even talked to a tuner yet. Just got the name of a good local tuner here and will go that route. I was contemplating the self tune route with my SEPro Tuner but hesitant to try it. If I'm spending all this $$ on the motor I want to get the most out of it.

Guys, I have been hunting "ghost" knock retard events from my 120R for Eons. This winter I opened the bitch up, cleaned carbon and polished heads, honed cyls and broke it in again. Result: Ghost events disappeared from the rear cyl but not from the front cyl. Spark, VE's, AFR all fine and tuned (my ECM flash version is 114). Figured it must be something mechanical. Front exhaust flange bolts seemed to be slightly loose so tightened them about 1/4 turns and pushed the spark plug cables real tight.

Retard events gone.

Hope this helps somebody

Edit: note that exhaust flange must not be too tight as it may oversqueeze the gasket.

They don't support SE based tuners anymore. Something to do with Harley and licenses for software, maps etc.

Unfortunately, I usually have several retard events when I'm working on the bike

If that's what they told you then it's crap. There is no licenses from Harley to use their products. You used to have to buy the software but even that's a free download now. They probably just don't have a database of tunes with the S.E. products like they do for the DynoJet products. It takes a ton of time and money to get a good catalog of MAPs when you figure they have to tune several models and build combinations every year. That's why I quit giving my MAPs out.

Default Here we go again

I just got my Andrews 57H cams and S&S quicky push rods and will be doing the swap this weekend. Now comes the question of tuning. I have the SEPST tuner and am currently using the 044AAO003 base file. The bike is an 2012 FLTRU with V&H 2-1 Pro pipe, S&S tear drop AC. Since I had a lot of trouble with pinging it has been modified by reducing the timing in several areas. There have been some other changes as well. The bike runs very well, there is no pinging, MPG is in the high 40's, power is good, only occasional decel popping, so I have no issues with the way it performs. So should I start with the current ECM flash or should I flash a different base file to start tuning. If I go with a different base file which one should I choose.

Make a couple of smart tune runs and see how she reacts to the VE changes. You might get lucky and not have to do much else. However I would think that if the map and timing changes you refer to were made based on another cam being installed in this same bike, I would suggest simply starting over with that same fresh CAL.

I have a 2010 fatboy lo with the stage one air cleaner and V&H 2 into 1 big radius and my engine seems to be running hot and hesitant right around 3rd gear. I have the SE super tuner pro, any thoughts?
