I hope I'm answering just what you are asking...

Smart tune doesn't change the AFR table, it only makes changes to the VE tables.

You can only set Smart tune on by flashing the ECM. This can be the same file you have been using or a new one but it has to be flashed to the ECM with Smart Tune checked to put the ECM into Smart Tune data collection mode.

As Foxster said, the AFR is not changed with smartune, the VE is changed. so if you did a smartune data run, then opened the smartune and loaded the data run, then you pressed update, it will update the VE only.
Now if you go to the re flash page and see the smartune and reset AFV greyed out it will be because you have not yet saved the updated VE in the previous step. save it to a new file name each time so you can go back (if you want) to see what changes were made.

again the Smartune and AFV is greyed out if you try to flash before saving the updated file.

Thank you kindly! That's pretty much what I was after. In retrospect, I suppose my post made my bike out to have serious issues, but in reality it runs fine by most peoples' standards...Just not by MY standards. I know it can be approved upon, and thats my goal.

The fuel puddling up in my breather only happens once in a while, and I feel it's mostly because I'm prone to fill my tank to the tippy top. Upon further review, my inner exhaust tips are showing a bit of black, moist soot, that has a faint fuel smell, coupled with my not so perfect starting condition, I'd venture to say I'm probably running a bit too rich. I guess I will find out soon enough.

My 2010 FXDBi runs at 40-44 MPG. I use Valvoline 20w50 motorcycle oil in the engine and primary, and 75w-140 in the tranny.
I used the SEPST to tune my bike along with the "My Tune" software to adjust the timing. I am running stock cans with Cycle Shack baffles and a SE Air Breather (not the big sucker).
I'd say 25 mpg is running super rich.

Foxster, I think I went exactly along your instruction you spelled out so nicely in the H-D-hangout forum. At step 49 you expressed not to check the smart tune box, but only the AFV box. Now, if I want to do another recording run, how do I check the smart tune box, or don't I need this box checked again? I did save all my recording runs after I loaded them into the tuning window and accepted the changes. BTW, my new tables did change with every new recording file loaded. If I want to change decel popping I have to do that manually in the A/F tables, correct?

If you want to do another smart tune run in the future, just re-load your current MAP in the bike and check the Enable Smarttune box. Then you are set to do your recording.

Yes your last saved recording run is the MAP that is currently in your ECM, so just re-load that one with the box checked. To get rid of decal popping you can do it in either your VE tables or your AFR tables or both.

Thanks harleytuner. Which way would you recommend I should follow to get rid of the decel pop? And what numbers should I change first? In what column should I make changes?

I have another question for harleytuner: In posting 1105 you suggested to paud to try your AFR values you posted. Can I try the same values for my '08 HS, or would they only work for a touring model?
