I've made some progress: the computer has recognized the hardware and drivers are installed. But the software doesn't seem to know. Won't do anything. The update button is dead. Won't do anything.

Suggestions?

The sepst software works on 32 bit system .
You can get everything downloaded but the driver is 32 bit.
I don't have the newest software , but I understand it operates on 32 or 64 bit systems. If you have a 32 bit system you can tune your 2012 with the 2010 software . But it is probably just as easy to buy the newest software.
I converted my 64 bit to 32 bit , just for this reason.

New Ve's can only be generated with Smart tune enabled .
And the map has to be in closed loop or 14.6

Problem solved: got the 2013 software from my dealer. Loaded without a problem, connected to my bike. I'm a go. Thanks

Odd. Maybe the 2010 software I had was defective. I installed the 2013 software without a problem. Stage I air cleaner installed, remap completed. Definite upkick in horsepower and a nice deeper exhaust note. Running and sounding good.

No it wasent defective . That s just the way the software was.
When I contacted the engineer in change of sepst. About this , I was told the driver only works on 32 bit . I then asked what do you do when a dealer upgrades there computers. I was told ( then) they do not recommend anything other than 32 bit or xp . Last year I was told by the same engineer , the new software will operate on either 32/64 bit. You just confirmed that .

I need to clarify..sorry. I did load the 2010 verson on my Win7 64 bit computer and Super Tuner software worked. I even traded files from the 64 bit to a 32 bit computer with no problem. What I have NOT done is hook up the VCI to the 64 bit.
This weekend, I will try hook up the 64. I need a long cord as the 64 is in the house.

There you go. Everything will work except communication via the VCI.
