Default Possible for Bike to Re-Map On It's Own??

Ok. I was IMing with my HD friend in Germany. He has a carbed Softail and a newer Buell (sorry don't know the year off hand). He was telling me that if adds a mod to his Buell (ex: air cleaner), that if he rides (about) 20 miles at (about) a constant speed of 55mph?? - can't remember the exact mph - but I can ask him again, the bike with re-map itself. As he stated "the box will automatically adapt to the changes". Anyone heard of this in an HD bike?? Sure would make life easier for me when I'm only changing my air filter.

The ECM can adjust itself, a very small amount, (+- 3-4 %) in Closed Loop operation only to accomodate changing conditions and or fuel differences that affect the O2 sensors.
Closed Loop only because then the ECM is "running" on the O2 Sensors.
So some things like a different AC or Exhaust it can adjust to, but not both, generally.

Thanks, Old Gunny. The bike came with SE pipes and I'm just changing the original HD AC/filter to a K&N. I'm gonna give it a whirl as it is. If I have trouble, I'll have it re-mapped.
