Default erratic idle

i recently have installed S&S 510 cams with my intake and exhaust mods. Fuelmoto was kinf enough to send me a MAP for the application even though i didn't get the PCIII USAB from them. the MAP works great but i cannot get the idle to stabilize. i can adjust it to about 850 rpm and it will idle fine for several minutes then start to slow down and eventually die. a friend of mine jus had his tuned at a reputable PC tuner and when they set his idle the removed the fuses in the right side cover for 15 minutes then reinstalled and ran the bike saying it reset the idle in the ECM. i have tried that and have tried adjusting the idle and not removing the fuses with same results. ride for several miles and come to s stop and the bike dies. any help appreciated.

Default RE: erratic idle

What type of EFI system do you have????

MM or Delphi.....

Presuming it is an MM System......

Is the IA stepper motor operating correctly?

Do you have any intake leaks?

Is your ET sensor operating correctly?

thanx, bike is 2001 so system is MM. no intake leak. ET sensor is ok, remove it from the head and secure in free air movement the bike runs richer. not sure about idle motor but i see a motor opening and closing the throttle a bit when cold. problem started just after installing Power Commander.

Take the PC out of the loop.....

Restore all Factory connections to spec.....

Bike should fire up on 2d spin of wheels, but won't run pretty, but should hold idle, and not flash any codes......

Idle should kick to 1400, and step down to 1000 in 2 or 3 steps and hold....

This will tell you if it is the PC or the bike itself....

If it is the PC, you either have a bad map or a bad PC (Won't be the first time)...

If the bike doesn't hold idle, or is erratic, you could have a failing/ed IAS or intermittant ET....

Have you messed with the TP or IAS adjustments at all? Hope not....
