IMO it would seem to be amateurish to tune by focusing solely on VEs and twiddling with CLBs while neglecting ignition timing.

You would have to do a V-tune first. Then a T-tune.
Then repeat more than likely.
Not saying it could all be done with a one time Tuning run.
The thing is, if during the Data Runs, the spark retard event is captured, the program could be written to manipulate these events taking into consideration, it is the frame or two earlier that needs to be looked at.
Thats at, The Cause, event.
Just seems to me.
I am no computer person but I am a Generalist. I try to understand the whole process.
Back when I was working I would ask the Tecks to see if then could make the programs do this or that, if possible. sometimes then could and, Bingo. the world is good.

Reading on this paper. Lots of big words.
Back earlier with Autos, say early 90s, I used to think the timing would move itself up till it hit a,-- Knock, then pull back and eventually build a timing map for the fuel, and operating conditions.
Just seemed logical, but I may have been wrong.
Just seems that would be at least good for milage and emissions. Not that with my bike I really worry about that. I know,Iknow I'm a Neothale,sp.
