I just purchased a used chrome license plate/light kit (68230-97B) on ebay (item E on page 644 of the 2010 Motor Accessories catalog), but the wires were cut, so no plug and play. Since I don't have instructions or the original connectors, how is the best way to wire this item?

The catalog description states "running lights/brake." Is it possible to wire this item for signals too, or would that be too much?

if it were mine I'd go to the dealer and pickup the following so as not to have to cut your factory harness under the seat

72114-94BK - Connector
72154-94 - Connector lock (probably not needed)


but realistically speaking it's a breeze either way you choose to do it. simply match up the colors to the wires on the empty connector under your seat.

Black
Red/Yellow
Orange/White
Blue

OK, 9 months later I get-around to installing the chrome license plate light kit. The installation is uneventful, until I get to that darn deutsch connector.

I purchased the 72114-94BK male connector which comes with 4 pins, and the instructions (http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J01565.pdf) show the 4 wires from the lights being connected into 2, these wires are red and blue.

The female connector under the seat has 4 wires, black, red, red/yellow stripe, and what appears to be orange (there is no blue wire, or orange with a stripe that I can tell).

Which wires go where?
