Default Troubleshooting for 2008 FLHX cruise control

All of a sudden my cruise control doesn't work. The switch on the fairing turns on and light comes on but the c.c. does not engage and take over.

Any advice on troubleshooting this issue?

Thank you for your help!

Is your brake light on all the time?

Common problem the lever housing seperates slightly from the switch housing.
Brake light stays on all the time and cruse does not work

Default Cruise Switch light DOESN'T come on....

Here's one! The light on the Cruise Rocker Switch does NOT come on - so I can't do a diagnostic run thru. Last summer I had a shop change the rear tire and give the bike a once-over before a 7,808.l mile trip. When I left, I realized the brake pedal didn't make the cruise kick off. The cruise worked fine all through the trip, but conked out a few days ago. I had the bat wing and dash all apart to check the switches and they appear fine - all connected, nothing loose. I also checked the brake light - and the front brake lever lights it up - but the rear pedal does NOT. I'm guessing the switch on the rear brake went bad.....sound reasonable? The hand-grip cruise switch is tight - but it COULD be the culprit too - am I going in the right direction?? Any ideas how to test the rear brake switch??
Thanks!
Robert Ferguson
