There' tons of threads explaining what U1016 error code means, thanks, but How do I fix it?

Have a 05FLHT with 62K miles. Engine close to stock (A26 cams). I have been getting the U1016 since pretty much new, but no problems other then the code showing up. I have cleared it many times, but it comes back (not immediately, but fairly quickly). How do I figure out just what is causing it, and fix it?

No, "Engine close to stock (A26 cams)" the cams are the only non stock on the engine. the thundermax are the only corrective links I could find too

 

U1016 Loss of ECM Serial Data, Vehicle Speed, Vehicle Inhibit Motion or Power train Security Status TSM/TSSM (delphi systems)

That's going to be difficult to find being there are many connections that can cause this code. The fact that it isn't a current code but only happens after some time would indicate a poor connection. More than likely it could be just one pin that isn't making a good connection. Start at the ECM and open the plugs in the harnesses and inspect for any that are discolored which indicates a bad connection or possible any corrosion.

Good luck, it's not going to be an easy find unless you happen on it early in the search.
