06 FLHRI idle ?

06 FLHRI idle ?
Why would idle RPMs be higher than normal, when restarting a hot motor?
Drive the bike for a minute and idle will lower to normal RPM.
This dosen't happen to often, but this being my first injected HD, I'am not
sure what's up.
Total of 3000 miles on bike, 2000 miles on stage I set up.
SE air kit
S&S slip on ovals
SERT
25 degree injectors
Bike seems to run fine, no decel pop or backfiring.
43 MPG.

RE: 06 FLHRI idle ?
The IAC is probably interrupted in it's cycle...... or it might be bad....
When you initiate the start sequence, as soon as the run switch is hot, the fuel pump spools up and the IAC goes through it's cycle...
Some riders don't wait for the light to go out (CEL) before they light it off (Engage starter)....
Once the motor is starting, the IAC steps in or out to adjust the idle air bleed for a 1000 rpm idle at operating temp.....
Another possible problem would be the ET Sensor (Front Cyl Head)..... bad plug, wiring or sensor itself....
Gonna have to get it diagnosed through a Digital Tech, SERT or Twinscan....

RE: 06 FLHRI idle ?
Just FYI: Last weekend after riding for a while the idle speed on my 06 Wide Glide (11,000 miles - no modifications - runs fine) ran up to about (I'm guessing) 2,000rpm. I pulled over and checked the throttle cables and they were not bound up, and the butterfly valve sounded like it was closing. When I got home I took the air cleaner off and looked at ther operation of the butterfly and it as fine. It must have been a malfunction of the IAC, althoughs there was no check engine light. I didn't check for codes, I assume if a code was stored there would be a CEL.
