Static from rear speakers when operating brakes

Default Static from rear speakers when operating brakes
Have a 1989 FLTCU and noticed static coming from rear speakers when operating either brake (and bike is not running, but key on). Radio/CB is not on either, but as you press/pull brake pedal/lever quick, sharp static comes from rear speakers. Any ideas?

no ABS on an 89, I presume... maybe some 'arcing' in the bulb.
