Default ECM Cable removal / reconnection Question

When disconnecting the ECM cable from the ECM on the 2010 touring models would it be a good idea to first disconnect the battery's negitive cable? Is their any concerns with screwing up the bikes alarm system, security codes, ECM, etc?

You are supposed to pull the 40 amp master fuse first although I don't do it all the time, it's best to. No need to unhook the battery.

Make sure you've got a little dielectric grease on the connector before hooking the ECM back up.
