Default 1970 Shovel draining battery

Problem my buddy is having that you guys might be able to help us troubleshoot. Bike is a 1970 Shovel FLH. When you try to start the bike the solenoid acts like its binding the starter up and it does not release when you release the starter button and drains the battery really fast.

Bike will start fine some of the time then all of a sudden it seems like the solenoid binds up and the problem arises.

Any suggestions?

Are u sure the battery is good under a load?Check both battery cables for corrosion, tightness.Does bike charge once started?Starter solenoid could be your problem as well as bad ignition switch or wiring at switch area, bad switch.Id bet on the solenoid.
