Question Volt gauge question?

When you turn on your main switch ( the one the key is in on an Ultra ) what does your volt gauge read before start-up (but after fuel pump comes up)?

It should give the voltage at the battery terminals. That should be 13.? volts with the ? determined by how fully the battery is charged. Running it should be 14.? since the battery is being charged rather than used to power the bike.

This is why I asked. I took notice the other evening that when I flip the switch on and the fuel pump comes up, the gauge only shows about 10.5 volts. Hit the starter and it drops dramatically but always starts. Yesterday evening I was watching the gauge while running and it read about 13 volts. I guess I was wondering if all the lights coming on when I turn on the switch could be the reason for the 10.5 volt reading. Oh, the battery is a brand new ( couple months old ) Odyssey 925.
