1999 FLHT oil pressure gauge works backwards, when you crank it up it shoots up to 40 and as you roll out the higher your rpms go the further down it does, its been this way for a yr or so, it was like that when i got it, we tried to reverse the wiring but that wont work, any ideas?

My 99' did the same thing. I was told that the wave washer on the oil pump was the cause. ?? In the end I replaced the oil pump with a new high volume pump and after buying 3 new sending units I finally got one that worked. Now I show all kind of oil pressure, may not really have it but my mind is at ease because the gauge says I do! :-)

 

yea i replaced the oil pump, not because of this though. i have the answer, take it out and i wont see it running backwards..
